Ok, This Is Even Better:-)

Never try to get the better of a woman, read on for proof....

My Dear Wife, You will surely understand that I have certain needs that your 54 year old body can no longer supply. I am very happy with you and I value you as a good wife. Therefore after reading this letter, I hope that you will not wrongly interpret the fact that I will be spending the evening with my 18 year old secretary at the Comfort Inn Hotel. Please don't be perturbed - I shall be back home before midnight. When he came home, he found the following letter on the dining room table:

My Dear Husband, I received your letter and thank you for your honesty. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that you are also 54 years old. At the same time I would like to inform you that while you read this, I will be at the Hotel Fiesta with Michael, my tennis coach who, like your secretary, is also 18 years old. As a successful businessman and with your excellent knowledge of math, you will understand that we are in the same situation, although with one small difference: 18 goes into 54 a lot more times than 54 goes into 18. Therefore, I will not be back before lunch time tomorrow.

Friday Clue!!!

Last chance for you to qualify for one of two 1,000 euro vouchers for the new Family Album catalogue.

I'll give you one clue today:-) Annie Corley

Get to it!!!:-)

Best Email Ever!!!

Well, the best so far this week......

Life is ToughSent in by Arthur Williams

Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets.

"We don't have half dozen nuggets," said the teenager at the counter.

"You don't?" I replied.

"We only have six, nine, or twelve," was the reply.

"So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?"

"That's right."

So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets.

The story above doesn't amaze me because of what happened a couple of months ago. I was checking out at the local Foodland with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those "Dividers" that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed.

After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the "Divider" looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it. Not finding the bar code she said to me "Do you know how much this is?"

And I said to her "I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll buy that today."

She said "OK" and I paid her for the things and left. She had no clue as to what had just happened...

A lady at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly. When inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM "thingy".

I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. Do you need some help? I asked. She replied, "I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door UN-locker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenient store) would have a battery to fit this?"

Hmmm, I dunno. Do you have an alarm too?" I asked.

"No, just this remote thingy," she answered, handing it and the car keys to me.

As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, "Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk."

"Just use copier machine paper," the secretary told her. With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five "blank" copies.

I was in a car dealership a while ago, when a large motor home was towed into the garage. The front of the vehicle was in dire need of repair and the whole thing generally looked like an extra in "Twister."

I asked the manager what had happened. He told me that the driver had set the "cruise control" and then went in the back to make a sandwich.

Police in Radnor, Pennsylvania, interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine. The message "He's lying" was placed in the copier, and the police pressed the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasn't telling the truth. Believing the "lie detector" was working, the suspect confessed!
CONCLUSION:
"Life is tough. It's tougher if you're stupid."

A Lucky Escape!

From the Daily Mail website...

Two killed as giant bouncy castle lifts offTwo people have been killed and several injured after an inflatable sculpture, half the size of a football pitch, blew free from its moorings. Some of those involved were inside the artwork, which has connected rooms, when it lifted off at Chester-le-Street's Riverside in County Durham.

The reason I mention this is because myself and herself visit Newcastle quite often, owing to the fact that her sister lives there with her husband and her two beautiful little girls. So, when we were asked to look after the girls for the weekend we jumped at the chance. So on saturday afternoon we set off for Metroland, a giant indoor version of Funderland without the smell of candyfloss ever present:-) On the way there we passed by the Chester-le-street park and spotted the bouncy castle mentioned above which our five year old niece was mesmerized by, naturally enough. So, just to keep her happy we said we'd pop in on our way home. By the time we left Metroland the girls were shattered and were missing their mum and dad who had arrived home by now so we headed straight for home. So then yesterday morning we flew back to Dublin and to the sight on the news of the gigantic bouncy castle blowing away in the wind! To say that we almost died is putting in mildly as thoughts of "what if" entered our minds. As it happened my sister in law to be and niece visited the cinema instead of the park so sighs of relief all round!

What a horrible tragedy on what was supposed to be a day out for families, my thought are with those that were affected by this sad event.

Be Careful!!!

I've noticed the return of scam emails in the last few weeks, you know the ones where you've either won 50 zillion quid on some lottery or you get offered the chance to share in someones inheritance and all you have to do is provide your credit card details in order to receive your cash. Unfortunately too many people have fallen for these cruel scams- read on and be warned!!!

LAWYER STEALS CLIENT’S MONEY, LOSES IT IN NIGERIAN E-MAIL SCAM… A former South Florida lawyer has pleaded guilty to stealing £150,000 from a client, and then losing the money in an e-mail scam. Knovack Jones, a lawyer for nearly 25 years and a former prosecutor, is accused of stealing the inheritance from the estate of an English family for whom she worked. During her trial, Jones testified that the money she took was funnelled into a variation on the Nigerian e-mail scams. Jones said a Nigerian doctor contacted her in 2001. “He had a contract with the government of £20 million, and he needed my participation,” Jones said…

“I hate it when people are dishonest,” the crooked lawyer added.

Where's Granny???

Given the current weather conditions, I thought this might serve as a reminder to at least leave the air con switched on in the car for your passengers:-)

GRANDMA LEFT IN HOT CAR… A 97-year-old woman is recovering in a Burlington, Canada hospital after she was left alone in a hot car for almost an hour during the worst heat wave of summer while her family went shopping. Phyllis Arnott can’t return to her home. A passerby called emergency services Saturday afternoon at about 4 p.m. after noticing the woman alone in the back seat of a car for more than 30 minutes in a Wal-Mart car park. Arnott was incoherent and dehydrated by the time emergency crews arrived. Said Arnott’s 36-year-old granddaughter, Kimberly Bouclair: “We do love her. It’s not like we meant to do it. It was an accident… we just didn’t think.”…

I would have thought 97 years was enough time to learn how to open a car door, but maybe that’s just me.

A Case Of History Repeating Itself....

You know the way something passes over you and then comes back to you later? Bear with me for a few moments please.....

I took my five and a half year old son to visit my dad recently and while we were there my dad asked for a lift to his local, which I agreed to. When my son heard that we were giving his Grandad a lift to the pub, he turned to me and said "aw can he not get the bus or walk?" I was a bit shocked and embarrassed as you could imagine so I turned to my son and said "no, we're giving your grandad a lift so don't be cheeky" My dad looked at me and laughed and I knew exactly why he was laughing! I was the cheekiest little git you could meet when I was my sons age and to be honest, nothing has changed:-) I could see my dad reminsicing at that moment, thinking about the many times he had told me not to be cheeky. Now I understand my parents frustration but it's cute in it's own way too. I'm sure my outlook will be different when he reaches his teens:-)

I had forgotten about this little incident and for some reason it just came back to me last night, so I had to share it with you - especially for those of you who are parents. For those of you who arent't..... it's all ahead of you!:-)

Surf Baby Surf!!!

A useful website for those of you that like to vent their anger and frustration online, here's the press release...

Giveoutabout.com is a new website developed by entrepreneur Samantha Kotey to give Ireland a place to complain. Just recently launched, the success of the website has been phenomenal with 50,000 hits received in the first week. With various different categories on all areas of life people can pick and choose what annoys them the most and rant to their hearts content. The categories are People, Money, Transport, Government, Technology, Work, Socialising, Weather and Entertainment. There is also the opportunity to text in pictures and videos to aid the stories published on the site.In addition to this, a forum is available whereby replies can be made to certain complaints. Whether you agree or disagree the forum is a place where people can bond over similar experiences or disagree vehemently with their complaining counterparts. The design of the site originates from walls stained from graffiti and toilet doors emblazoned in insults. The ‘wailing wall’ consists of bricks, each brick can be used as a voice for companies so they too can do their own complaining. On the design, Samantha Kotey comments,“ I was walking about town thinking of an idea for design when I noticed a wall covered in graffiti and insults, I thought it would be the perfect backdrop to a website dedicated to giving out”Check out www.giveoutabout.com to see what the Irish voices are screaming about and to join the rising give out about squad headed by ageing wizard Victor. Each week Victor encounters an experience to add to ‘Victors Daily Disasters’.

De-hydrated, broke and my shoulders hurt.... BUT I'M DELERIOUS!!!:-)

Yes, as you can see from the picture, I've been to Eurodisney!!!

Myself, my five and a half year old son and herself set off early on monday morning for Dublin Airport and after an hour and ten minutes in the air, we landed in Beauvais airport Paris. Now my friends, what Ryanair DON'T tell you is that Beauvais is about an hours drive from Disneyland so with this in mind, I booked an airport shuttle to take us to our destination.

So...... we arrived at The New York Hotel just after 2PM and the first thing we noticed was the smell of smoke in the lobby. The French are quite obviously reluctant to embrace the smoking ban and as a non smoker this was a tad bit annoying but hey, it was a minor irritant. Our room was lovely though and my son was fascinated by the fact there was a phone in the bathroom! He thought it would be fun to call his mother from the bathroom phone but I think the excitement of being in Disneyland diverted his attention from the phone:-)

As we walked out the back door of the hotel to walk towards Disney Village, we noticed a go - kart track in front of us. Little did we know that this would be all my son would want to go on throughout the time we were there but we didn't mind, it was his holiday after all. He's absolutely besotted with cars, trains, trucks etc so this was right up his street. He scared the living daylights out of the two guys that were looking after the karts by wizzing around the track at a speed that would get him penalty points over here! Well, not quite but he was delighted with himself:-)

Up to Disneyland then for a ride on the Disney train around the park which we waited over an hour for and then a ride on the Mark Twain boat and then down to Planet Hollywood for something to eat. More Go-Karting (bless him:-) and then to bed where we were all asleep once the lights went off. A long but wonderful first day:-)

We began tuesday with a swim in the hotel pool followed by lunch at the Cafe Mickey. Now this is definitely the place to bring the kids for food as Mickey and friends come around to meet and greet everybody, sign autographs and pose for photos. I knew himself approved when he asked to go back for breakfast the following morning. As with all activities in the Disney complex, be prepared for the shock of the cost. Fish and chips for myself and herself, pizza for himself and water for us all cost 65 euro!

From there it was onto a rip around in some racing cars (naturally:-) some space rockets and a great laugh in the buzz lightyear ride. Himself insisted on spinning us around in our space craft while we both tried to shoot down all the enemies. I've never laughed so much in my life:-) More Go-Karting to follow (you saw that coming:-) and up to our room where we ordered room service which himself thought was the best thing ever! I think that's why he polished off his cheese sandwiches, the first meal I had managed to get him to finish since we arrived there!

We went for a walk around the Disney Village on tuesday evening and spent a small fortune on gifts and treats for everybody. Herself is a Disney fanatic and delighted in buying bobbles for our christmas tree and for her sisters. How much for all this? Best not ask:-) My son was chuffed with himself as he walked away with various toys which I'm sure he's forgotten about by now and some gifts for all his friends.

We flew back then on wednesday morning laughing about Beauvais airport as it's more like a runway in someone's back garden! We boarded the plane from a marquee set up just off the runway!!! I should have taken a picture but if you're heading out there soon you'll see what I mean:-)

In summing up, mega expensive, mega hot owing to temperature soaring above 30 degrees but by gosh it was so worth it. It's a world of magic for children and sitting on a carousel watching the look of excitement on my sons face as all the Disney classics played in the background brought tears to my eyes. If you're a parent you'll know that special feeling that only your children can bring you. It's something that I will never forget.

Oh, my shoulders? You try carrying a five and a half year old around on your shoulders! Not recommended:-)

Go On Tha Nash.... or rather goodbye tha Nash:-(

It is with deep regret that I report the departure of Noel 'Nash Ballyer' Dunphy from the Playhouse Nightclub In Tallaght:-(

Nash joined us midway through 1999 and departs for a new career in..... well I'm not sure yet and, if the truth be known, neither is he!

I'll miss him big time mainly due to the fact that I'll have to go thirsty now because I'll have no one to run to the vending machine for me during the night, and the hip hop fanatics will miss his warm up diet of 50 Cent/Snoop/50 Cent/The
Game and 50 Cent:-)

One of the nicest and most genuine guys I've
ever had the pleasure of working it, I wish him
much success in the future.

Back Again!!!

Just back from a few days at Eurodisney and to be honest I need a holiday to recover! If you've got kids and you've been there you'll know what I mean:-) I have to say we had a ball though and I'll go into it a bit further later today, when I get a chance.

Meantime, to todays "who am I".....

We're concentrating on Superman characters this week so todays blog clue is......................

Todays "who am I" played the part of a computer programmer in Superman 3.

I may as well just tell you who it is but I won't!

You could be heading to the premiere of Superman Returns in London so get your text in on 53104 or your email in to andyp@fm104.ie asap!
