Ireland Welcomes Homer O'Simpson & Family!

SKY1 PROUDLY PRESENTS WORLDWIDE
PREMIERE OF THE SIMPSONS
Tuesday March 17th at 7.30pm on Sky1 and Sky1 HD


FEBRUARY 23rd 2009, Dublin, Ireland: For the first time in The Simspons history, Sky1 proudly presents the worldwide premiere of an episode, ahead of US transmission. In the Name of the Grandfather sees The Simpsons clan travelling to Ireland in an episode to be broadcast exclusively on Sky1 and Sky1 HD on St Patrick’s Day, Tuesday 17th March at 7.30pm.

The episode will form the centre-piece of an Irish themed night of entertainment on Sky1, including further Irish escapades for everyone's favourite yellow family in the episode Sex, Pies and Idiot Scrapes.
So sit back and enjoy The Simpsons unique satirical humour, a whole week before the American viewers. In the Name of the Grandfather, The Simpsons venture from Springfield to Ireland on a wild and hilarious adventure.

Grampa has always longed to return to Ireland to have a beer in O’Flanagan’s pub and Homer sets about making his wish come true. However, a drunken Homer and Grampa end up buying the pub and a whole host of madness and mayhem ensues. The Simpsons bring their charm and humour to a variety of famous Irish landmarks as they visit the Giant’s Causeway, Blarney Castle and even manage a stop off at the Guinness Brewery. Colm Meaney of ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Intermission’ fame features as special guest voice Tom O’Flanagan.

To celebrate this monumental occasion, The Simpsons executive producers, Al Jean and James L Brooks and voice talent, Nancy Cartwright will travel to Ireland for an exclusive screening of the episode and will take part in a whole host of activities including a role in the St Patrick's Festival Parade, the largest of its kind.To mark the occasion, none other than Homer Simpson himself has taken up a new role as Guest Editor of Sky Magazine with hilarious results. 2009 is indeed 'The Year Of The Simpsons' as the landmark series celebrates its 20th Year and Sky1 will be celebrating with a number of special events planned to mark the occasion.
